Baron Cameron. Forget the man, and heed the message.

The newly minted Baron of Chipping Norton told the BBC today that, "When you look at the engagement in Ukraine, that probably is the best example of how it’s worked,” he told BBC News". What Baron Cameron was referring to was "closer cooperation" with the E.U.

The saga that was/is Brexit is an epic tale to be recounted for a different time. Equally too, the E.U is a much fraught topic not suitable to be dealt with here.

To be clear, my interest here with this post is to stress Western unity, democratic strength and European(nothing as narrow as simply the E.U) cooperation. The Ukraine war is in my view epoch defining, or at least its outcomes will be. Ukraine must win, and win well. Cameron is therefore a tool. His message is important, even if his motivations for voicing it are self serving. That is the nature of petty national politics is it not? The Wests performamce in Ukraine is already having knock on implications in other areas. Nagorno-Karabakh, Israel Gaza, Houthi boldness amomg others. China is watching how we handle ourselves, as is much of the third world who hold a huge disdain towards Western cultural and economic hegemony.

Brexit, however you feel about it should not become an ideological block to cooperating on a pan-European plain in dealimg with mass immigration, oriental despots, energy generation, economic activity and so on. Open mindedness and comradeship amongst the European amd broader Western sphere is as vital to oir continued survival as it has ever been.

Rome once left Brittannia to defend its own Limes. The result was splintering, decay decline and dissolution, followed by mass immigration and monumental ethnic change to the make up of most of Europe and the Mediterranean.

The point I think holds merit in our age too.
